For an average composite asphalt shingled roof that measures 2000 square feet, you will need about 14 gallons of paint for the first coat and about 7 gallons for the second. Some paints need to be applied on primers. So check if you need to buy a suitable primer for the paint that you want to purchase.To paint the roof, you will need a power washer, rags and scrub brushes, paint roller, roller tray, nylon or polyester paintbrush, paint and primer. You must also have protective goggles, gloves and a respirator. Start work on a warm and dry day and ensure the weather will stay this way for a few days.
